James CochraneCandidate for Middle · September 2026

I did the homework.
Now I’m asking for your vote.

James Cochrane in the hills above Middle
Humility · Service · Evidence

Hello. My name is James. I’m standing because I believe we can do better for Middle, and better for the Isle of Man.

I built public tools that map, objectively, how the Island’s money is spent, that measure Manx Care against other Islands, and that show how the Manx economy actually works.

The Island doesn’t lack opinions and argument; it lacks objectivity, it lacks consensus, and it lacks follow-through. All of which I’m trained to deliver — progress built on a fact-based consensus, not gridlock over opinion.

So, here’s my offer to Middle:

  1. I’ll show you where the money goes, in plain English, using the very latest information published by Government. In a way you won't need a degree to understand.
  2. I’ll back the homes we need, publicly track every promise that comes with them, and show whether they’re actually solving our migration problems. Not creating new ones.
  3. I’ll turn the ten unanswered health reviews — only 9 completed actions from 59 (known) audit points — into a public to-do list. We’ve paid for the answers already; sometimes the same answer over and over again.
  4. I'll position Government behind private sector growth. I know what this means, and I'll spell it out.

If you want to know a little about how I think, I’ve been publishing data, visualisations and commentary at observatory.coalfinch.com. Before asking for your vote, I built the evidence in public there — free, sourced, and open to anyone. (These tools work better on a computer than on a phone.)

No party. No slogans I don’t believe. Everything on this site links to a source, and how I use AI on this campaign is set out plainly in the AI Policy.
